Maresme

Quiet and easy

The Maresme region extends from the northern boundary of Barcelona until Blanes. Despite not offering the dramatic coastline as the famed Costa Brava, it offers tranquility and calmer seas, as well as proximity to Barcelona. The towns along this stretch are popular getaways for wealthier Catalan families, many of which have historically held a second residence there since the latter half of the 19th Century.

A typical day trip along the Maresme can consist of swimming from the boat on anchor anywhere along the numerous beaches, watch the coastal towns from the sea, sunbathe in tranquility, and possibly swimming down to a beach cafe (chiringuito) on one of the beaches. The area between Llavaneres and Sant Pol de Mar allows a relaxed atmosphere, while the area between Sant Pol and Malgrat de Mar is a transitional area with more rocks. There are coves along that allow swimming and snorkeling as well.

A sample itinerary to this area would be:

Arenys de Mar - Sant Pol de Mar - Calella - Pineda de Mar - Arenys de Mar

The main allure of this route is the comparatively low cost of fuel, as our home port of Arenys de Mar is nested in the middle of the region. Travel time to nice swimming spots is also minimized, maximizing savings and time spent enjoying the sun and sea.
