One of the gems of the Costa Brava, Tossa de Mar is a historic village, complete with a stunning castle right next to the sea.
The stretch of coast between Blanes and Sant Feliu de Guíxols features some of the most beautiful coves and dramatic rocky shores of the Mediterranean. It is also the nearest area to access from the South, coming from Maresme.
A day trip to the Southern Costa Brava is the most time and cost-efficient way to visit some of the most picturesque spots in a relative proximity from Barcelona. It takes only about an hour to reach from Arenys de Mar by boat at cruising speed.
A typical itinerary to this area would be:
Arenys de Mar - Blanes - Lloret de Mar - Tossa de Mar - Cala Pola - Cala Giverola - Arenys de Mar
The best areas for swimming, while on anchor, are some coves around Tossa de Mar town. Cala Pola, Cala Giverola, and Cala Futadera offer paid mooring buoys, and can be an option for venturing a bit further north. They are famous and idyllic, but can be easily overcrowded by both people and boats. Some of them feature seasonal beach "chiringuitos", or beach cafe/bars.
