BARCELONA

the eternal port city

This vibrant city hardly needs an introduction. It has stood for over 2000 years as a hub of maritime trade in the Mediterranean. As The current Barcelona coastline features a large commercial port, a cruise terminal, and several beaches, along with 3 marinas.

A trip to Barcelona by boat from Arenys de Mar features an approach from the north-easter side, after passing the southern coast of Maresme, then leaving the stylish Olympic Port and waterfront on starboard, moving on to the "Hotel Vela" and the historic and busy Port Vell, which in turn is connected to the cargo port, at the foot of the iconic Montjuic hill. On the way back it is possible to stop for swimming on anchor along the village of Masnou, and/or area between Llavaneres, Caldes d'Estrac, and Arenys de Mar.

A typical itinerary to this area would be:

Arenys de Mar - Vilassar de Mar - Barcelona Port Olimpic - Barcelona Port Vell - Masnou - Arenys de Mar

This route combines a different view of Barcelona from the sea and allows for some relaxed swimming in the proximity of Maresme. While requiring more fuel than the Maresme route, it makes for a very enjoyable sightseeing and fun boat ride, with generally calm sea conditions.

It is possible to disembark for lunch at Port Olimpic, incurring extra marina costs (around 45 Euros).
